The ascent with this funicular is beautiful, the parking at the start is very convenient, it's a shame that the signs with the timetables have not been updated for years and the unsuspecting visitor, with a motor disability, finds himself at 6.10pm in front of a stationary cabin. So, the unsuspecting visitor with walking problems always has two options, risk prosthetic hips or call a taxi, yes a taxi, because even if the husband had parked in the very convenient car park at the start of the funicular and wanted to pick up his wife, no it could if it didn't incur very high fines, in fact the area is the entire ZTL

Beautiful experience!! Advise!! Reopened today 6 January 2024 after months of closure, it is free, fast and very convenient for visiting Biella Alta.

Nice and romantic means of transport, completely free. Panoramic view of decent effect, but no control. The cockpit is rather cramped and, in my opinion, 5 people are already too many. You can't open the windows and the air runs out almost immediately. It's true that the journey is short, but I don't think it's appropriate to crowd it with people. Covid, according to what they say, is no longer a danger, but there is something else too. I went up to the Piazzo with the funicular, but I strictly went down on foot. Many people don't think straight and get stuck at all costs. Is it a matter of life or death?? These vehicles run continuously, it won't be those 2 minutes of waiting that will ruin their existence... When the brain is absent...

After visiting lower Biella you can go up to Piazzo for free by cable car, but also by car or on foot. There is a medieval house, a nice square with beautiful arcades and a beautiful view, it is worth a visit. Unfortunately the churches were closed. Designed by the engineer. Vaccarino in 1885, it began to work in 1886 using a hydraulic system: a large container of water pushed the upper carriage downwards which in turn raised the lower one thanks to a pulley, however already in 1889 it was equipped with an electric motor . The funicular travels in 177 m. a height difference of 60 meters and the route allows you to enjoy the view of the flat city, where the bell tower of S. Stefano rises, on the hill of S. Gerolamo and the mountains.

Great news! From Friday 5 January 2024 the Piazzo funicular service will resume every day from 7.30am to 6pm. The reduced timetable is imposed by the Ministry of Transport.

An attraction not to be missed for those who want to visit Biella and see it from above. The funicular is free, I recommend using it for the ascent and, after visiting the Piazzo, going down on foot

Free funicular that runs until late, takes you up to the village of Piazzo di Biella, absolutely a place to see, also excellent in the evening, there are clubs, restaurants and events. The view from up there is beautiful
